Almost a decade has passed since Virvum caused an elemental shift in technical death metal with their brilliant debut. “One can only imagine what heights they’ll reach next”, Heavy Blog is Heavy wrote in a near perfect review of Illuminance. Now, as their long-awaited second album nears the finish line, the Swiss band are sharpening their shiny tentacles on a new journey.
This summer, Virvum are touring Canada for the very first time. The band will debut new songs while also revisiting fan favorites from Illuminance. This ten-day sprint includes a stop at Armstrong Metal Fest, where they’ll perform alongside The Browning and headliners Born of Osiris. Their melodic and blackened countrymen Stortregn will join as special guests on all 10 dates.
“After six years of absence, we’re beyond excited to finally return to North American soils again!” says guitarist Nic Gruhn. “But not only that – these will be our first ever shows in Canada. We cannot wait to finally meet and play for our loyal Canadien fans. With brand new material under our belt, we’re fully set to put the pedal to the metal, and provide you with that unrelenting tech/prog death that we all love so much.
We couldn’t be happier to share this experience with our good Swiss friends in Stortregn, who will be supporting us on every night of this tour.”
