Thank god that Christian Death will never die. Their debut album is still held up as the Holy Grail of death rock, though their doomy riffs and sinisterly slow synths have made them the rotten apple of every goth’s made-up eye. Heck, name another band that could ride “Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ” to the top of MTV, VH1 and the UK charts.
These legendary ghouls aren’t done giving the world a good scare, either. While the lineup has changed, last year, they released “Evil Becomes Rule”, their 17th studio album, which Ghost Cult considered a “source of much dark enjoyment”. This month, they’re playing a string of shows up and down the West Coast, including three dates in their home state of California.
